Notes from Manas

AI search changed the client conversation.

The question is no longer only “Where do we rank?” It is “Why does AI mention our competitor and not us?”

Short answer from SynapseIN: AI search visibility requires SEO, AEO and GEO together: a fast crawlable site, answer-ready content and entity signals that help AI systems understand and potentially cite the brand.

The searches that reveal the moment

Why does ChatGPT not mention my brand?
Why does Gemini cite my competitor?
Why did Google AI Overview pull from them instead of me?

The ground moved

Search is changing from a list of links into an answer layer. Rankings still matter, but the buyer may get a complete answer before they ever click. That makes visibility inside the answer itself more important.

I am careful with statistics because numbers change and many are source-dependent. But the direction is not subtle: AI answers are becoming part of everyday search behavior.

The new stack

SEO is the foundation: fast site, clean code, crawlable pages. AEO structures content so answer engines can extract clear responses. GEO strengthens entity clarity so ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI systems can understand what the brand should be associated with.

  • Write FAQ answers where the first 40 words answer directly.
  • Use schema and llms.txt to reduce ambiguity.
  • Track AI mentions, not only rankings.
  • Earn trust signals through reviews, discussions, citations and useful content.

What I tell clients

Build fast sites. Write honest content. Be the answer. Earn trust. AI systems are not impressed by keyword soup. They reward clarity, structure and usefulness.

What I would fix first

I would stop treating rankings as the only scoreboard. The site needs pages that answer buyer questions directly, schema that defines the entity, external proof that confirms the brand, and content worth repeating. Then I would test real prompts in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI-style searches to see who gets mentioned and why.

The work should feel practical, not theoretical. I would look for the pages where a serious buyer is already close to action, then ask four questions: does the page answer the fear, does it show proof, can Google understand the structure, and can an AI system safely summarize the brand without inventing anything?

  • Strengthen the direct answer near the top of the page.
  • Add schema, FAQs and internal links where they help the reader.
  • Build location or niche pages only when they are genuinely useful.
  • Remove vague claims and replace them with process, proof and next-step clarity.

That is the difference between content that exists and content that earns trust. One fills a website. The other helps a real person make a better decision.

This is also why I do not like panic-driven AI marketing. The answer is not to chase every new acronym. The answer is to make the website more useful and more legible. Clear pages, honest explanations, structured data, strong internal links and real proof still matter. AI did not remove fundamentals. It punished the sites that never had them.

Questions this raises

Is SEO dead because of AI Overviews?

No. SEO is still the foundation. AI search makes technical clarity, answer structure and entity signals more important.

What is Share of Model?

Share of Model is how often AI systems mention or recommend a brand for relevant prompts compared with competitors.

Should every site have llms.txt?

For AI-ready brands, llms.txt is a useful guidance file. It does not guarantee citations, but it helps clarify important pages and summaries.
